Portrait Photography, "What makes you Interesting" I took this image this fall. I knew the client very well and she was fine with me selecting locations. I picked this dark barn because I knew it would show off her hair color and those blue eyes. The background is a barn and the subject is only lit with a natural shady light. This type of light is great for tight portraits. The young lady also had on a different yellow outfit and I had her change before we left my house. Yellow would have overpowered the image. I have a questionnaire on my website I have clients fill out. It is also helpful to have a picture of what you look like. This information helps me in picking locations and finding out what you like in photography.

The goal is simple, Great Photography. The more information before the session the better. Jumping in blind can work but not always.

Clients usually want an image at sunset with a beautiful fall glow. However, direct light can also cause harsh highlights and unflattering shadows. Sometimes working in shady areas like above can yield dramatic images. I usually try to start in those locations and then move to the sunset later in the day.

I am starting a new form of advertising this year. I have learned over the years that word of mouth is the best advertising for a creative business. I rarely get new portrait photography clients from people just searching on the internet. I used to offer a discount on their next session for clients that referred new clients. This year I will send you cash for anyone that you refer and hires John Whitehead Images for a portrait session. 2020 was a slow year for everyone, so I would like to start spring with a bang. Feel free to post this on social media and share it with your friends.

As a reminder, I do not have time limits and clothing changes. I love taking photographs, so I am willing to work as long as you are willing to model. Hope to hear from you soon. Don't miss those fall colors.
