Depth of Field can be an issue when photographing in macro photography. Focal length, aperture, and distance to subject all play a part in the depth of field of an object. Even though I was shooting at F 22, a very high aperture the distance to the subject reduced my depth of field.
My goal with this image was to have all the little hairs stand out. The only way this could be achieved was a process called focus stacking. I took six sequential frames, moving the focus on each frame. (Note, you will need a tripod to do this. ) Using Adobe Photoshop, I then stacked the images together and told Photoshop to blend the in-focus areas of each frame. The result is an extended depth of field. If you are interested in learning this process check out this YouTube tutorial.

Looking for a Camp Hill or Central Pennsylvania photographer to photograph your products. I can photograph food or other complicated commercial setups such as this reflective watch. This image is a combination of multiple layers to help control the values and give it that pop!

Post-processing is always overlooked in photography. Even with presets or actions you still have to understand when, where and how to apply them. A good photographer can really enhance an image in post-processing. The photography aspect is much less time consuming than processing image.
These blackout portraits are very popular in the horse world. They are actually pretty easy to do. The hardest part is to get the horse in the correct place and looking decent. Otherwise, nothing fancy was done. This little series was done in 30 seconds. What makes them dramatic is how they are shot and post-processing clean-up. Here are the before and after of this image.

Random images I took during this years 4H fair at the Pennsylvania Farm Show Complex. If your child or group is participating in an event I photograph in a story telling documentary style. Fair can be difficult because parents are usually getting their children ready and don’t have time to take images behind the scenes. Lighting can also be difficult in these situations and having a professional can make a world of difference. Please contact me or take a look at my portfolio. Calls and inquiries are FREE!

Have you ever wanted to learn how to shoot in manual with your dslr or mirrorless camera? Professionals use manual because of the control and honestly, camera meters are not very accurate. You achieve better images and exposures by learning how to work your camera. Even if you don’t want to shoot in manual, understanding how a camera works can allow you to put it in a better working range. I am starting a series of Photography 101 videos for students in my classes. Feel free to give them a try.
I also have a series of tutorial videos on Adobe Lightroom and Adobe Photoshop.

I spent a day at Assateague Island and Ocean City, Maryland taking candid family photographs. Here are a few from the trip. Candid photography is a great way to remember a trip or moment. They capture raw emotion verses a posed look. Hope you enjoy these images. It was a great time and I even got a chance to fish in the ocean. Thanks to all who were involved.
I am starting with Photo Mechanic going to Adobe Camera Raw, then to Adobe Photoshop and finally with jpegmini. I use this process over because it gives me more toning control but it could be streamlined in Lightroom.
