Stop using those phone apps to retouch your selfies. I can use high-frequency retouching in Adobe Photoshop to retouch your portraits. High-frequency retouching separates the color layer from the detail layer in Photoshop. This allow me to to fix blemishes, skin color and shadows without removing detail. This will give you a more natural look than just blurring your face. I can contour you face, shape your eyes, nose, mouth, head and body. Need thicker eyelashes, no problem I can add them too. Retouching is totally free and painless for all portraits I take.
If you would like to see the process, I have a YouTube tutorial I made for this image. The description has time stamps so you can skip to any part of the video you would like to watch.
This is a more extreme version of retouching and face shaping. I added digital makeup to to this subject. You can see how I changed her face shape with makeup and shadows. I can do anything from mild to extreme retouching.
Feel free to contact John Whitehead Images to schedule a spring portrait. Retouching is totally free for all portraits I take.

I spent a day at Assateague Island and Ocean City, Maryland taking candid family photographs. Here are a few from the trip. Candid photography is a great way to remember a trip or moment. They capture raw emotion verses a posed look. Hope you enjoy these images. It was a great time and I even got a chance to fish in the ocean. Thanks to all who were involved.
LANCASTER ROOTS & BLUES 2018
Here are some of my favorite images for the the fifth annual Lancaster Roots & Blues music festival in downtown Lancaster, Pennsylvania. There are 41 images so take your time. My two favorites bands were Clarence Spady and Ron Holloway. I did not make it to every location and every performance but what I saw was amazing. As a journalist I have seen many music festivals in the area and this was be far the best.
Photographing bands in poor lighting can be very difficult so using a fast lens is key. I also used spot focus and moved that point around constantly. Most venues had decent lighting but Tellus 360, The Main Stage and the Chameleon Club were my favorites. It should be noted that I didn’t attend The Sugar Tank and Zoetropolis. Hope too see you next year and enjoy the gallery.
Bands I photographed were Clarence Spady, Anthony Gomes, Linwood Taylor, Ray Fuller & The Bluerockers, Kid Davis & the Bullets, Kenny Neal, Ron Holloway Band, The Justin Angelo Band, Tommy Z and Magic Dick and Shun Ng.

My niece came down from Pittsburgh because she wanted her senior portrait taken a Ricketts Glen. Ricketts Glen is a 4-5 mile loop full of water falls. We made it about half way before the rain came. This first image is us about five minutes before we got soaked.
The next day I took her to Harrisburg, because I thought it fit her better. She had a totally different look that worked well with the urban landscape. I toned these image all black and white because the color was not beneficial.
